Why use printable toy bin labels?

Anyone with kids knows how important it is to have some kind of system to organize your kid’s toys. That is especially true for all the little parts that you don’t want to be mixed. Also, it can be overwhelming for children when all the toys are mixed and they can’t find the pieces they are looking for.

Adults are the same way too! For example, have you ever had to clean your room or space before you could work? This system will help you and your children tackle some of that toy clutter.

Children are more likely to put things away if they know where things are supposed to go. And if they can’t read, there are picture icons to help them identify the labels.

The labels are also really helpful when family, friends, or a sitter is over and helping with the cleanup.

About the Toy Bin Labels

So, when Tami O’Malley asked if I would be open to creating some cute toy bin labels, of course, I said yes! Tami is a Montessori-ish girl mama, a literacy advocate, and has the best taste. Give her a follow!

She has these cute clear bins in her living room and wanted a cute way to keep labels and organize them. I ended up designing 36 labels to choose from.

These labels are so helpful and I knew I wanted to make them into a freebie for you all to enjoy. This download includes two different versions. One pink and white and one green and white. You could use one or mix both files.

Here is what Tami had to say about them: “I love these printable labels designed with Dear Jane Paper, that make it fun for my girls to plop down and play with their toys, while keeping things tidy and easy to put back, too! In our home we practice choosing one item at a time, placing the activity on a Montessori-style rug, and returning our bin to its place before choosing a new one. Having both a photo and written words on the labels enables both my 5.5-year-old emerging reader and my 2.5-year-old toddler to identify items independently. I attach the labels to the bins using removable velcro dots which also makes toy rotation simple!”
