As the new school year approaches, there are a million things to do: paperwork, back-to-school clothes, back-to-school supply shopping, and the list goes on. But there is one thing I will be adding to my list: a small gift for my child’s teacher for the first day of school. Why? I believe being a teacher is one of the hardest and most important jobs out there.
Giving your child’s teacher a small gift at the beginning of the year lets them know that you value what they are doing. It also gives you a chance to interact with your child’s teacher and is the perfect way to start the year off on a good note.
Here are some back to school teacher gift ideas for the first day of school:
Back to School Greeting Card: A note can go a long way. Let the teacher know you are looking forward to having your child in their class. Also, let them know if you are willing to help out and how that would look: volunteering in the classroom, taking home projects to do in the evening, and so on.
Coffee Gift Card Printable Holder: A simple and much-appreciated gift, perfect for those early mornings.
Dinner and Dishes on Us Gift Card Holder: Celebrate the beginning of a new school year with this thoughtful gift idea. The gift card holder reads “Welcome Back! Lesson plans are ready, the classroom looks sweet. Families are coming, there are students to meet. When today is over, you will be beat, so tonight’s dinner is our treat”. Pair this gift card holder with any restaurant gift card (or door dash gift card if you don’t want to commit to a specific restaurant) and you’ve got a great gift for teachers. Add some cute paper plates and napkins (also available at Homegoods) and tie them with this cute measuring tape ribbon for an extra special touch.
Hand Sanitizer: Teachers can always use hand sanitizer, and this fine mist spray is hydrating and has a lovely vanilla scent. It’s a practical and thoughtful gift.
Customizable Leather Bookmark: These are beautiful and practical. The “main character energy” bookmark is especially fun. I also love these initial embroidery bookmarks.
Pastel pencils: Simple but useful, teachers always need pencils. These pastel ones are adorable. Split the box into sets (one for each of your child’s main teachers) and tie them with this cute measuring tape ribbon.
Wine: And wine because if I was a teacher, that’s what I would need, ha! Add some printable wine tags to make this gift extra special.
Finding the perfect back-to-school teacher gift doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether it’s a thoughtful note, practical supplies, or a little something to help them unwind, these back-to-school teacher gift ideas are sure to make any teacher’s first day special. Start the school year off right by showing your appreciation with one of these creative and heartfelt gifts.
