Nip summer screen-time excesses in the bud with this printable summer screentime rules checklist. Your kids to complete personal tasks, chores, and activities before they can ask for any screentime.
My girls are almost out of school and while I’m so excited for summer vacations, pool time, and quality time together, I will admit the lack of routine can make it easy to let screen time rules slide. But I don’t waste away the summer with screens, so I made a printable checklist of things they must complete before asking for screen time.
My favorite items on the summer screentime checklist are:
20 minutes of creative time. This can include coloring, crafts, writing a letter, playing with play dough, or anything else your child enjoys that involves creativity.
Do something kind. Not going to lie, my girls fight A LOT. I’m putting this item on there to encourage kindness between them.
Make your bed. Okay, this one seems simple but during the school year, we don’t have enough time in the morning to do this. Our mornings are hurried to try to get out the door to be on time for school. I would like my girls to learn this habit and I think the summer is a good time to practice.
This printable checklist is also a great visual aid to help your child get into a good daily routine and build independence during the summer break.
As much as my kids (and myself) enjoy lounging in my pajamas all day, I found that we all do better with a daily summer routine. I also find that we have more room for spontaneity when we are already dressed and ready for the day.
Plus, this summer screentime printable even includes a link to be able to customize your own chart if you want to change the text.
You can hang thissummer printable screentime checklist on the fridge or even get it laminated at a store like Staples and use it again and again with a dry erase marker.
