As the new school year approaches, there are a million things to do: paperwork, back-to-school clothes, back-to-school supply shopping, and the list goes on. But there is one thing I will be adding to my list: a small gift for my child’s teacher for the first day of school. Why? I believe being a teacher is one of the hardest and most important jobs out there.
Getting your child’s teacher a small gift at the beginning of the year, lets them know that you value what they are doing. It also gives you a chance to interact with your child’s teacher and is the perfect way to start the year off on a good note.
Here are some ideas for teacher gifts for the first day of school:
Of course, you can’t go wrong with a Starbucks gift card. To make it more fun, you can attach it to one of these cute printables.
I don’t know about you, but I love a nice pen. This box set would be a nice gift. Or this blush one for a more neutral gift. To make it feel complete, you could pair it with a nice notebook, like this one here.
And wine because if I was a teacher, that’s what I would need, ha! Add some printable wine tags here.
Books for the classroom library is another thoughtful and well-received gift. You can ask them if they have a wishlist going or here are a couple of ideas: A Letter from your Teacher: On the first day of School by Shannon Olsen, The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson.
Fresh flowers are always a lovely gift, You could grab a small potted flower or bouquet of cut flowers at the grocery store or your local gardening center. And tie one of these tags around it.
Last year, for preschool I got my daughter’s teacher a coffee gift card and some bagels for the teachers and it was a big hit. A small gesture that went a long way. So, start the school year off right by treating your child to one of these awesome back-to-school gifts ideas.
